The Vampire Squash followed me to bed one night after their first appearance. Wonderful dream, I only wish I could remember more of it. Some days later I found myself doing a squash doodle at work. I must say I am very delighted to see them here again. ^^
If you don’t mind me giving this advice Mark & Tek If you do make Chekov’s Vampiric Squash into a D&D spell it should do twice the damage than normal if mentioned before hand due to the spell being powered partially powered by Chekhov’s Gun … or some kind of penalty should be worked in to the spell if you don’t mention it. Also you could make it into a type of low level monster and have it so after a magic user over a certain level (i.e. level 5) defeats them that they gain the spell that summons a Vampire squash & have it that every level you go up you get to summon one more Vampire squash (i.e. level 5=one vampire squash per Chekov’s Vampiric Squash spell , level 6=two vampire squash per Chekov’s Vampiric Squash spell and so on). Also summoning them when its day time would probably either require more magic And/or make them less effective.
for any who really need to know, my father had left his squash in the vegi patch until today, having never heard of the folklaw. thankfully I was here to pick them and nip vampyric infestation in the bud before they turned…
I knew you’d bring the vampire squash back! They were too awesome NOT to mention again!
^ · ·^ It’s, it’s like in every bit writ lies the wit of Chekhov and his gun.
^. . ^ wait…. that … I would….
okay time for sleep.

Hurray for Chekhov’s Gun 😛
More like Chekhov’s Gourd.
Vampire squash with vocal cords, no less!
Chekov’s Vampiric Squash. Sounds like a D&D spell.
…
Okay, I’m totally writing up that spell and using it in my next campaign.
Ha! I like that, Mark. I may use that one myself …
😀
Those squash will probably be diced in seconds, but it’s still a good delaying tactic.

The squash “waking up” in the first panel is so cute. “Gnuh?”
I love that the creepiest, baddest guys in the comic so far are about to get their @sses handed to them by vegetables.
If anyone cares, that was me posting, and it was utterly true. I alone prevented a zombie-pumpkin plague rampaging across Surrey on Christmas day.
….
Damnit! Why did I do that? That would have made the best Dr Who Christmas special EVER!
