    It’s interesting to see how far Boneclaw Mother’s depiction has changed from the first glimpse of her as a massive shadow with eyes from last chapter’s end. In panel 2, she almost looks cartoonish – it seems like a fun, subtle little way of showing that by this time, she’s no longer a threatening figure to Digger.

    I also find the subtlety of Owl Caller’s standing up to BoneClaw Mother to be wonderful. Deferential, yet resolved; perfect!

    Yeah. I dunno if even the other, female elders would dare talk to her quite like that. I mean, they question her decisions, but Owl Caller has just questions her, which is quite different.

    “One /would/ hate to think so” (emphasis mine). I think I’m really starting to like Owl Caller, he and Boneclaw Mother are wavering back and forth on the danger/friendliness matrix (and again, remember that the two axes do not have a direct inverse relation. See Shadowchild, for example).
