  1. Zamael says:

He may be dead and all, but he sure doesn’t have any sense of drama.

  2. Mad Luc says:

Awww…. *Grandfatherly advice! And as practical as it should be Quartz-Claws is a cute nickname, too.

    (*Great-To-the-power-of-who-knows?)

  3. Kevinbunny says:

You know.. as omenome.. omne..omno..omnomnom.. stuff that sounds like what it is, ‘grumpy ethereal chanting’ always makes me think of Enya saying rude things about my mother…

  4. JewelWolf says:

Onomatopoeia? Is that what you’re driving at?

  5. JewelWolf says:

Oh! I just remembered this guy’s name! Helix. Hi, Helix!

  6. XJaxX says:

No I think they were going for ominous. And lol, about Enya saying rude things about your mother!

  7. CJ says:

Yay, Helix! Practical parenting. And I really do hope Murai gets to do some prophecy-fulfilling and some heroing in the midst of all the wombatish practicality. Poor kid deserves it.

  8. Mark Antony says:

I’d be grumpy too if every time I tried to be mystical, a wombat showed up and ruined it.

  9. Hawk says:

    Awwwwwwww!

Welcome back Helix! Yes, let’s get them off the mountain!

  10. BarGamer says:

The concept of such a down-to-earth species having separation anxiety is somehow hilarious yet endearing.

    Ominous onomatopoeia?

  11. Wilde says:

raising Pterry’s flag with ominous omnian onomatopoeia ………….

  12. Luke_Prowler says:

That kinda reminded me of TSOALR

  13. AgnesPterry says:

YAY! Back to the adventure! Not that Shadow’s arc wasn’t expected. However, all the crying and reminiscent bits were getting to me a little. I think it’s where I’m following this with Google Reader one page at a time now instead of reading it in chunks like I’m used to doing. I can’t wait for book (5? 6?) to cover this section where I can read it all at once on PAPER. Free is awesome, but books rock.

  14. wicketbird says:

But what about Murai’s mystic destiny? It was interrupted by wombats…

  15. KNO3 says:

What about the dead chained up god?

  16. Argent says:

Sounds like Murai’s mystic destiny was just a hook to get Digger up the mountain.

  17. Madam Atom says:

Mad Luc: I thought Quartzclaw was the name of Digger’s clan.

  18. TekServer says:

    Ominous onomatopoeia
    (and a little alliteration, too)

    😉

  19. Archangel Beth says:

I begin to think Helix may be female. But I’m still not sure.

  20. Sutremaine says:

Digger’s referred to Helix as a he. Unless ghosts have voices completely unlike the living and Digger’s started defaulting to the male pronoun, Helix is very unlikely to be female. It does make as much sense for a gender-equal culture to have men with qualities we’d traditionally see as female as it does for women to have ‘male’ qualities, although the ‘female’ qualities aren’t seen as often in fiction unless it’s specifically a domestic story.

  21. JewelWolf says:

The “Cast” page says only wombats can tell a wombat’s gender.

  22. Marrock says:

Wombat gender is easy to tell, but would you want to try turning one upside down to find out?

  23. Hawk says:

Yeah I will pass on that Marrock 😀

  24. KNO3 says:

Bah improper groping will tell you it’s gender in a pinch.

  25. Gothic Chur says:

NEIIIIINNNNNNN!!!!!!!! What a cliffie, boys and girls!! I just finished all the archives, but that’s not making me any happier….
Aw, this is all so sad, she was so attached to Shadowchild without even realizing it. *.*

  26. Brenna says:

I’m not groping anything that plans to give me a pickax upside the noggin.

  27. KNO3 says:

Style and technique Brenna. That and fast running shoes.

  28. AnonyGirl says:

@XJaxX and others who need to know:
When Kevinbunny said “as omenome.. omne..omno..omnomnom.. stuff that sounds like what it is”, he very very likely meant “onomatopoeia”, which does basically mean “stuff that sounds like what it is”. I doubt he meant “ominous stuff”. You mayn’t see this, XJaxX, as I assume you’ve moved on to other pages and aren’t combing back to read new comments on old pages — but I hope it helps others. If you want a more dictionary-like definition, look up the word, folks 🙂 . “Borborigmy” is a great example of onomatopoeia — it’s stomach-rumblings. Ta…

  29. Lord the 22nd says:

I love the grumpy chanting. I really do.

  30. Matthias says:

@wicketbird “Interrupted by Wombats” would be a good name for a rock band.

  31. TekServer says:

“Grumpy Ethereal Chanting” would be an interesting band name, too …

    😉

  32. Dare says:

“grumpy etherial chanting” lowlz. Best phrase ever! Or definately one of the top 100, nearly all of which can be found in this epic

  33. Altarboy says:

    Omnipresent ominous onomatopoeia.
